Tutorial:

This is another one of my "prefabs for dummies" tutorials... This one should help even the most challenged of you get your prefabs looking just like the screen shots!

Pick a prefab (I used the Cargo Pallet for this example). Next, make a good sized room (if you are following me make it 512 all). Texture the room any way you want and add light. Now BEFORE you add the prefab, load ALL the texture sets that it requires. The textures used are usually stated in either the Read me of the prefab or in its description. The texture set for the Cargo Pallet is SkyCity.utx

Now after ALL the required texture sets are loaded, add the prefab to your level. Then just rebuild geometry are you have your prefab!

here are some things you need to know about prefabs and textures...

1. You must ALWAYS load the textures BEFORE the prefab or it will not be textured correctly.

2. Some prefabs do not have their textures listed. For these prefabs just load every texture set UnrealEd has. The editor will automatically filter out the ones you do not need next time you save your level.

3. Some prefabs have custom texture, make sure to unzip these to your Textures directory and load these.
