This tutorial covers :
Creating a Teleporter
Forward:
These are extremely easy to use , but please PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT OVER-USE THEM!!!! I don't even want to mention my first map (DM-Teleworld....i'll leave it to your imagination to work that one out...).
Content (or whatever):
Now
this is so stupidly simple that i shouldnt even bother writing
it.....but i will. Here goes : I'm guessing that you already know
how to make a basic level and have one ready because i'm not gonna
explain any of that (refer to my other tutes if you dont know how to
make a level).First of all, find a place where you want to shove
these little doohickeys then go to Actor Classes>Navigation
Point>Teleporter>Visible teleporter then right click and
select "AddVisibleTeleporterHere".There ya go!
Oh yeah , you want
it to work dont you......Well go to the properties of it and give it
a tag, (Events>tag) this can be anything you want , so go ahead
and be creative.
Then add in another telepoter somewhere give
this a different tag , then (this is what makes it work) go to
properties>Teleporter>URL and type in the tag of the first
teleporter and vica-versa with the other one. These will now
transport you in and out of both of these.BOOYA! Your
done.
If you want to get creative you can have one way teleporters (tele1>url=tele2 , tele3>url=tele2 etc) or you can have like 50,000 of them (the mistake i made) and you can also do heaps more stuff , all you have to do is experiment.
I'll tell you one thing that you can do though: You can make Teleporter a got to teleporter b, but not vica versa. This is a pretty cool thing to do. All you have to do is not give teleporter b a url and make it invisible, that way, they can get to location b, but not back to a again! Experiment ahoy! I'll leave the rest up to your imagination.
About the tute: I decided to write some tutes because of the fact that nearly every tut on the net has been written for UEd1 and that really pisses me off..... sorry about that , but that's the truth. I apologize for the use of so many brackets , but that's just the way I "write".
Feel
free to e-mail me with suggestions for tutorials , I'll be happy to
make them
if I have enough knowledge on the
subject.
